Mawrid: Celebrating Inspired Design opened this weekend in the AlJadidah Arts District. As the inaugural exhibition of Design Space AlUla, this event marks a special place in the design journey for AlUla, one of the most important archaeological and heritage sites in Saudi Arabia and the world.
Prior + Partners are privileged to be a part of the journey, with members of our practice participating in the exhibition’s series of talks and workshops which focus around design innovation inspired by this ancient region and resonant global issues.
Our practice was initially commissioned in 2019 as part of a wider consortium to develop the strategic regional Framework Plan for AlUlA and produce associated planning policy and guidelines for the next fifteen years. Our work focused on light touch interventions, celebrating the rich heritage and cultural landscape, restoring natural landscape and systems, protecting the heritage and nature as part of a “living museum”. Since then, we’ve led several detailed masterplans within the core heritage area, and we also hold a Masterplan Guardianship and Design Advisory role.
The exhibition will be on display at Design Space AlUla until June 1, for more information on how to visit and what is available: https://lnkd.in/dxtbXYyi
