I have always loved exploring different environments, some of my earliest memories as a child were exploring my local area and trying to discover new places. These days I still love to explore, though now it is primarily via bicycle. I am a passionate urban cyclist, one of my favorite things to do is cycle around the city getting lost and discovering new place.
I like to think that as an urban designer you have the potential to have a positive impact on people’s daily lives. Through basic gestures like widening a footpath, to complex gestures like a regional development plan, and everything in between. All with the potential of having a positive daily impact on how people interact with their environment.
Post my graduation I co found the West Cork Architecture Network, a Collective Research Platform, investigating dereliction rural Irish towns and and transforming these spaces into more community-oriented environments. Through this community centred approach, we organized a series of events, workshops, street pop-ups, and exhibitions. This experience allowed me to develop valuable skills in coordinating community-focused initiatives and engaging with local councils. The project is still ongoing and continuing to evolve.
I have a passion for sharing knowledge and learning from my peers. I have tutored multiple different academic workshops in locations around Europe focusing on alternative approaches to territorial research, which have resulted in physical and theoretical outcomes tailored to each project. I have also been involved with more community focused skill share events.
I draw on this diverse range of experiences to inform and enhance my design decisions in my work.
